I am working on a server built by the previous vendor. Something went wrong with the SSIS installation. It gives an error message saying "Failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.SQLServer.SMO.SMOEnum) and underneath that error message another error message states "Class" not registered. As a consequence, it doesn't let me connect to that instance. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. I've already tried uninstalling/re-installing that component. |

If you are working with a named instance, you may need to see the bottom part of this article for more information on a fix. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms137789(SQL.90).aspx Your response could be a possible answer. I think this generic error may be caused by something else. anyways, I'll credit you for the answer. thanks.
